Yesterday, P and I spent the entire afternoon cutting twigs and reclaiming reusable cardboard from old cartons. Then we spent the rest of the evening trying to get super glue off our fingers. If you, dear readers, are wondering what we were up to, please allow us to present our “all natural, no added preservatives” DIY nativity set

In the stable with Baby Jesus are Mama Mary and Papa Joseph. Dinky, the donkey, is maintaining a safe distance from the child because he is wary of old men carrying shepherd hooks
And I agree with Dinky, Papa Joseph’s hook looks quite menacing. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near that guy either.
But Mama Mary is kind; she feeds Dinky every day and he is very fond of her. In fact, when Mama Mary was pregnant, he carried her on his back all the way from their home in Nazareth to this place they call Bethlehem. Now that they are in this strange land—and living in a stable!—he stays as close to her and her baby as possible, and if bad guys come near them, Dinky tries out his karate chops on them. Eee-hah!
See, there’s Dinky patrolling the area to see if any baddies are lurking around. With a black belt like Dinky around, who’d be afraid of the big bad Harold!
Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and mister donkey are made from Gourmet Crochet: Amigurumi Nativity.

The stable is made of cardboard pieces reclaimed from old cartons, burlap, twigs, and many hours of love and laughter
Beautiful!!!!

I don’t even know what that means but it sounds grand
Thanks a tonne, dear Mo
It’s from Mary Poppins – http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=Rg6vc66foXE
It’s quite a mouthful, but “if you say it loud enough you’ll always sound precocious”
Haha – that’s right

Thanks, Bonnie
P helped me set up the stable. It took us a few hours and the craft room was a total mess but we had so much fun making it.
Eek!!! Too cute! >_<
That shriek had me running to the stable to seek Dinky’s protection
Thanks, CandyCrafter. I’m glad you find them cute
